Fundraising Goal Achieved

Constitution Park

We are proud to announce that, thanks to the generosity of the local community, we hit our fundraising goal of $450,000 for the revitalization of Constitution Park. Located next to the Village Hall and a neighbor to the Library, several houses of worship, FASNY, and our Boston Post Road commercial area, this park can now become a central respite accessible to everyone. Investing in and renovating Constitution Park will make our cherished village a more attractive place to live and work and strengthen our community.

Hitting our fundraising goal allows the Village of Larchmont, landscape architect Rivi Oren and FOLP to stay on target for an October, 2019 groundbreaking and it ensures all critical elements of the proposed project will be realized. Among the infrastructure and amenity improvements to be made to Constitution Park are a common area with stage for public concerts and performances, a French-inspired promenade running the length of the park, a sculpture garden, ADA pathways, lighting improvements and additional seating. We are concurrently working on fundraising for a separate children’s area and gazebo to be featured within the park, and anticipate having updates on those projects soon.

Hundreds of families, individuals and local businesses donated to this capital project over the past two years in an effort to bring to life an inclusive and inviting Village green space that residents will enjoy for generations to come. We are overjoyed that we were able to hit our fundraising goal and grateful to our local community for making it happen.  We will continue to work with Village leadership as the project moves into a construction phase this fall.

The following is a preview of design highlights to be implemented:

  • A shaded French-inspired promenade running the length of the park
  • Common area for public concerts and performances
  • Sculpture garden
  • Children’s grove

An important tenet of the improvement of this natural space is the positive interaction we expect it to have with the local business district giving those who wish to dine or shop in our community a place to rest or linger a bit longer. To this end, we are also already imagining a host of events to draw our community together in this public space including summer concerts, family-friendly events as well as our favorites like the annual art show, holiday lights, and Ragamuffin parade reception.View park site plan
