Deborah Maher has joined FOLP as Co-President, partnering with Laura Rosenthal to oversee the current operations as well as strategically plan for the future. Deb is Vice President and General Counsel at the Randall’s Island Park Alliance, a nonprofit and public-private partner of the NYC Department of Parks, where she works closely with her Board and President to oversee the day-to-day affairs of the organization. Deb lives in Larchmont with her family.
Kevin McCarthy has joined the Board of FOLP as Treasurer. Kevin is a lifelong outdoor enthusiast who moved to Larchmont in 2013 with his wife and two boys after 15 years in NYC and an adventurous childhood in the Midwest. Kevin attended Colgate University and earned an MBA at Columbia, and he has worked as a financial analyst for Neuberger Berman for more than 15 years.
Darren Moss, Vice President, is also the President of the Pinebrook Park Association. This is his third year with FOLP. Darren has a financial services background and when he is not volunteering his time in and around Larchmont/Mamaroneck or coaching one of his children’s sports teams, he works with small and medium-sized companies to refine their sales processes.
Laura Brancato Woelfel, who helped lead the Turtle Park project, has become Secretary of FOLP and has been part of the group for 2 years. She volunteers on the Village Parks and Trees Committee and enjoys dedicating her time to Village projects that seek to revitalize green spaces. Professionally, Laura is an elder law attorney who assists members of the Sound Shore community in planning for retirement and beyond.
Laura Rosenthal, our Founder, continues in her role as Co-President, overseeing all aspects of the organization’s fundraising efforts and management of the Constitution Park project. From Sheldrake to Flint to Manor Park, she and her family enjoy all that our community’s green spaces have to offer. Prior to FOLP, Laura was a Director at TrialGraphix, a national litigation consulting firm.
Board of Trustees:
Lynn Janson supports FOLP’s communications and events committee and also oversees Love Your Park Day. Lynn previously worked in politics where her experience spans from Capitol Hill and political campaigns to the private sector where she worked for an issue advocacy consulting firm.
Meegan Insley is a freelance marketing and public relations consultant, and she oversees communications and marketing efforts for FOLP. She also serves on the fundraising and events committees.
Kara Nuti has rejoined FOLP as an advisor and will coordinate fundraising events and manage the annual giving fund.
Steve Mott is the Chief of Staff of HELP USA, a national homeless-service and affordable-housing non-profit. Prior to joining HELP, Steve worked at an anti-poverty non-profit in East Harlem that focused on using technology to connect people with public benefits. In addition to his non-profit experience, Steve has worked in government as a policy advisor to U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse where he focused on commerce and technology. He lives in Larchmont with his wife, two girls and two dogs.
Laura R. Lavan is an award-winning sculptor and painter with a passion for education, community engagement and cultural enrichment. She worked to create the Westchester Children’s Museum in Rye, NY. and served as its first President, helping to oversee extensive development and fundraising efforts. She has served on committees and boards for various organizations: Boys and Girls Clubs of Mt. Vernon, University of Virginia, Junior League of Westchester on the Sound, Mamaroneck PTA, Mamaroneck Schools Foundation, Regis High School and the Larchmont Library Transformation Campaign. Laura resides in Larchmont with her husband and family.
Alexandra (Lexie) Pitney is Senior Counsel, Ethics & Compliance and Investigations, for Xylem Inc., a global water technology company committed to developing innovative technology solutions to the world’s water challenges. Prior to joining Xylem, Lexie was an attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York City. Lexie lives in Larchmont with her husband and their three energetic boys.
Laura Wright Treadway is a science and environmental journalist who has worked for publications including Discover and Scientific American. She was a longtime editor at OnEarth magazine, the independent publication of the Natural Resources Defense Council. Laura moved to Larchmont from Park Slope, Brooklyn, where she served on the board of the Prospect Park Alliance. She spends much of her free time outdoors with her husband and two young children, trying to turn their backyard into native wildlife habitat.
